Freedom Speaks is a full-time poet who has performed spoken word on Robert Townsend's “Spoken” on The Black Family Channel, opened for Def Poetry Jam on Broadway at Atlanta's Fox Theatre, opened for the U.S. Human Rights Network National Convention, performed at "Girls in the Night" during Atlanta's Gay Pride Festival, and has performed, lectured and facilitated workshops at several institutions and student conferences, in addition to featuring at thousands of other events.

The former New York State NAACP Youth and College Division President published two volumes of poetry, Soul Witness (2003) and Speak, Poet! (2007), has a CD and DVD titled "A Taste of Freedom" (2007). Her work has been anthologized and her debut novel, Manjani , will be released in August 2008. 

She studies naturopathic medicine, tantra, and chakra healing in her spare time.
